UC-CSU Requirements

The University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU) systems both require a minimum sequence of classes that students must pass with a grade of C or better to be eligible for admission. These classes are often refered to as a-g courses. The UC system also requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 for CA state residents and a 3.4 GPA for out of state residents. Students may earn admission through other means, such as, Standardized Test scoress and by exception. Check out the following link for more information: UC Freshman Admissions. The CSU system has slight changes in regards to their requirements, check out: CSU Freshman Admissions.

Theses requirements are minimum requirements for eligibility. Being accepted to the college of your choice is complicated and dependent on 14 or more factors that colleges weigh when selecting students.

High schools may have their courses approved by the University of California. When approved, these courses will automatically be approved when students apply for admission to UC and CSU Universities. Rincon Valley Christian is an approved provider of a-g courses, thus, students who are CA residents, earn at least a 3.0 GPA and complete all a-g required courses with a C or higher, will be elibible for admissions upon graduation.

Students may also fulfill a-g requirements and take extra a-g classes by utilizing online providers and the Santa Rosa Junior College. It is the students responsibility to check that online providers are UC approved. College classes that are UC transferable most likely will qualify if the course matches the category description. (i.e. Calculus 1A at the SRJC will count as an additional math class for a-g qualification)
